As if two years in the Big 10 isn’t enough, you’ll experience an overnight Safari with Africa’s Big 5. Don’t worry we’re keeping it Bad & Bougie too. From the beach house to the cooking class, we will make sure there is enough South African wine to go around. Need we say more?

Up early, we venture out on a morning game drive before making our way back to the coast. Our destination is Hermanus. Also referred to as the Riviera of the South, it has wondrous beach settings, quaint fisherman’s cottages and unspoilt natural beauty. And did we mention whale watching?

Day 11 — Monday, Aug 28
We kick off our last day on the beach for a fantastic sunrise, before last minute souvenir shopping. Before our afternoon departure, know that you’ll have officially earned your RossSafarian Stripes.
Vaish "Aruba" Shastry
It’s unclear what value-add Vaish brings to this trip, she’s not really good at anything and was confused by 98% of the buzz-words in her first year at business school (“synergy” will always be her favorite). She hails from the south and spent the last five years in Mississippi – so she’s at least good at dealing with the heat and she is very good at drinking whiskey. She will be the most useless leader, and perhaps is one of the most useless business students, but hey, someone has to be at the bottom of the curve. You’re welcome to join her down there, she says it’s great.
Ian "#NOFILTER" Bridges
You can probably tell from the photo that Ian was an elementary school teacher before heading to Ross. What isn’t so obvious is that he’s cheesing because his bartending lessons were set to start a few hours after this picture was taken. With no expectations of a tasty outcome, we’ve designated Ian as our resident bartender because his drinks will have you ready to throw down. The native Detroiter didn’t travel far from home for b-school but he’s well traveled and his passport has the stamps to prove it. Luckily one of those stamps is from South Africa so we’re in good hands on the trip!
Josh "The Most Interesting Man In The World" Smith
He might be married, but he is anything but domesticated. Josh has two levels: 0 and 100. And you can bet he will keep it 100 when we throw down in Cape Town. Like any true leader, he is the first to arrive and the last to leave – at Skeeps, that is. Visiting South Africa has been a life-long dream for Josh, in large part because he has dreamed of seeing a wild penguin (Coincidence that it is our first activity? Maybe…). But what will make this trip even more special is sharing it with all the lucky MBA1s that pick Cape Town Throwdown. Not that you care, but Josh is from Massachusetts and is relieved that he no longer must explain why Brady is G.O.A.T. (#fiverings).
Aisha "Boss Lady" Miller
We have a solid finish to this quartet, we like to call her “Boss Lady” (I mean look at that photo). But, don’t let the nickname fool you. She knows how to throw down! This former consultant has a few tricks up her sleeve. Originally from Chicago, she moved to DC where she resided before she decided to come to the tundra known as Ann Arbor. Rumor has it that she might have been a singer in a past life because she’s been spotted in Skeeps on Thursdays singing along to every song. Don’t worry, she’s sure to have us hooked up with all the latest tunes throughout the trip. Her tunes mixed with Ian’s bartending skills, and Vaish and Josh’s killer BUS dance moves, will have you ready to party Ann Arbor style!
