Ammar Ahmad & Aqsa Iqbal
Aqsa and Ammar got married about four years ago without having met each other ever before: yes, you read it right and we are not kidding! We hail from Pakistan, but have moved around quite a bit – Ammar came to the US after finishing college with an engineering major, living in TX before marriage and with Aqsa, and then living in MD, PA, WV and Toronto. Aqsa spent most of her childhood in the Middle East before moving back to Pakistan to go to medical school. Our shared hobbies include cooking, board games, binge-watching, and travelling. However, Ammar likes to stick to a plan and loves to explore nature during vacations, whereas Aqsa is more happy-go-lucky, loves watching panda cubs roll, and enjoys urban settings with modern architectural aesthetics.
Madoka & Hiroaki Kobayashi
Having their wedding one month before their departure to the U.S. from Japan, now we enjoy a two-year honeymoon in Ann Arbor. Our first MTrek was in Iceland, which was quite a unique experience with snow mobile ride and hiking on glacier. Both love traveling and scuba diving. (Favorite trip destination: Madoka – Barcelona / Koby – Cuba. Best dive spot: Koh Tao in Thailand) We are very excited to have another chance to enjoy trip with Rossers and partners!
Scott Collins & Mariel Perlow
Scott and Mariel are undergraduate sweethearts with a fairly unique fun fact: we got engaged, got a puppy, and moved to Ann Arbor in the span of eight days! We are East Coast (beast coast!) natives, but have lived all over – San Francisco for a few years and Boston for a few after that, and Scott spent considerable time in Beijing. Although we maintain separate hobbies – Scott enjoys indoor rock climbing and fishing, and Mariel is a runner and a prolific writer – we both love travelling, reading (huge HP fans), good wine, and our nine-month old black lab, Donner. Scott is an ex- and future management consultant, and Mariel was an elementary school teacher before completing her Education Policy and Management degree at Harvard, and now works for the Ross admissions team.
Alejandra Lara "Ale y Nacho" Ignacio Calvo
We are a chilean couple having a great time in Midwest. We have been together for four years and we love to travel, we have been lucky to visit all the continents (but Antarctica!) and now we are really excited about getting to know the US better. We had a blast in our first Mtrek and we expect to enjoy even more this second one!
