Food, beaches, dancing, and speedboats, what more could you ask for? We’re headed to Brazil! This trek will be a great mix of cultural immersion (markets, food, dancing),  beach time, and partying like there’s no tomorrow. We are traveling along the coast after all! First we’ll start in Rio and find the best dance party. One of us has the low down on Brazil (read our profiles to find out who!). Then we’ll move to the northern coast, where we’ll visit lagoons and sand dunes, while raging like there’s no tomorrow.  Bring your swimsuits and let’s make this the BEST TRIP EVER!

Day 1 — Friday, Aug 18

Hop on a plane and let’s meet in Brazil. Bem-Vindos! Welcome to Brazil! The place known for Carnival and a number of Victoria Secret Angels. We’ll be exploring the neighborhood while we wait for others to arrive. We’ll meet for dinner, then head out for draaanks! Bring your dancing shoes, we just finished our internships and it’s about to go down!

Day 2 — Saturday, Aug 19

Heading to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain! Don’t worry, this will be done via cable car (don’t worry, Christina will have Dramamine)! From there, you’ll be able to see 360 degrees of breathtaking scenery, including Christ the Redeemer. There are also plenty of options to visit markets that feature crafts, food and clothing that represent Brazil. Bring on the Caipirinhas!

Day 3 — Sunday, Aug 20

We can’t get enough. Let’s SAMBA! We’re going to explore the city and find music on the street. Thais lived in Brazil, so she’s got the low down on all the cool stuff.

Day 4 — Monday, Aug 21

Fly to Sao Luis, the capital of Maranhao state. We’ll be staying in a hotel close to Barraca de Comida, a market with many food vendors. For those with an itch to rage, we will be going HARD that night at some local spots.

Day 5 — Tuesday, Aug 22

After breakfast, we leave for Barreirinhas. On the way, we’ll stop in the city of Morros for a snack and then we’ll head out to Grande Lencois and the Lagoa Azul Circuit. Lencois Maranhenses is a georgeous white sandy beach with shallow water ways. We’ll visit the best lagoons for this time of year, so bring your sunscreen and bathing suits! This is what Brazil is all about.

Day 6 — Wednesday, Aug 23

We’ll leave for Parnaiba on a short road trip and run away on a speedboat from the Port of the Tatus.

Day 7 — Thursday, Aug 24

We’re off to Jericocacoara! To get there, we’ll cross the white dunes and the Island of Love (Carnaubas). The Sunset Dune is awaiting us and (you guessed it) we’ll watch the sun set and partake in the party life with the locals.

Day 8 — Friday, Aug 25

The Jeri sand dunes are a sight to see. FOOD! Street food, bars, and dancing will fill our evening. This city has some of the best seafood in all the land.

Day 9 — Saturday, Aug 26

Today we’ll transfer to Fortaleza and will explore the area. With 16 miles of urban beaches, get your livers ready for our last night at Iracema, a Bohemian beach with bars and nightclubs.

Day 10 — Sunday, Aug 27

It’s time to leave Brazil. Don’t schedule your flights too early! See you back in Ann Arbor!
